3 days birding in Kaziranga

Kaziranga is not only famous for its mega herbivores but also famous for its Avian Life. The landscape of Kaziranga comprises Grassland, Secondary forest, Wetland, Open country and a mix of evergreen forests which makes it one of the most diverse Birding Hotspots in India. Including winter and summer migrant Kaziranga hosts over 500 Bird species. Bengal Florican (critically Endangered), Finn’s Weaver (Endangered), Swamp Francolin (Near Threatened), Indian Grassbird (Near Threatened), Swamp Grass Babbler (Endangered), Baer’s Pochard (Critically Endangered)(A winter visitor to Kaziranga), Great Hornbill( Vulnerable), Slender Billed Vulture(Critically Endangered), Greater Adjutant(Near threatened) Blue Naped Pitta are some of the key species which can be found in Kaziranga. Depending on the seasons sighting of the birds varies such as if you want to see Bengal florican then you should come to Kaziranga after annual controlled grassland burning because it’s primarily a grassland species and until or unless necessary to fly they will never fly. If the grass is high then there is a little hope to see them. Such as Finn’s weavers are also very secretive Birds but during February and March when the Silk Cotton (Bombax Ceiba) trees starts to bloom you will easily find them. Around 36 species of Raptors, 6 species of Vulture, 9 species of Owls, 12 species of Woodpeckers, 7 species of Minivets, 29 species of Ducks and Goose, 6 Species of Storks, 7 species of Kingfishers with many species of Flycatchers, Babblers, Warblers, Parakeets, Pigeons, different species of Waders will be a delight for you birding. All in all Kaziranga is a very nice place to start of your Birding Career. We highly recommend this tour to our guests because it’s a bit easy birding compared to our Eaglenest birding which you might think of joining later. It will be a nice practice session for your birding skill and and photographic opportunity.
